About Kari

Bio

I have 4 wonderful children, ranging from 25 to almost 11 and 3 children that I love like my own, although they were technically added to when I got  remarried. I have 2 dogs, a cat, 3 ferrets and many chickens. I lived in West Valley City for all of my adult life, minus the last 6 years. I moved north, Cache Valley had been calling to me for many years, and it was finally time to make such a big move. I love Cache Valley and plan to stay living there for the rest of my life. I have always loved mental health, so when I became a nurse, it only made sense that mental health nursing became my second greatest love, my husband my first. I have experienced many things which I feel have helped me to become the person that I am. I have been married several times, buried a spouse after an unintentional overdose, and now have a blended family. These experiences have helped me to create a non-judgemental way of looking at my patients. I have been a mental health nurse for the past 7.5 years, got my BSN and then my MSN, becoming an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) with PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certification). I have always wanted to help improve the mental health of my patients, and I feel like my best opportunity to do that is to meet my patients wherever they are on the path to mental wellness.

Mission Statement

My mission is to create a calm, welcoming space where individuals feel heard, respected, and supported while receiving high-quality mental health care tailored to their unique needs and goals.

Values

I value transparency, trust, reliability, commitment, compassion, understanding, and a non-judgemental environment. I always strive to “tell it straight” in the nicest way that I can. I may not always see eye-to-eye with all of my patients, but I do guarantee that I will treat you with respect. If for some reason I feel that I am not a good fit for you, I will refer you to someone whom I feel will be. If you decide that you want to have a different provider, for whatever reason, I encourage you to be honest with me about that so that I can make the transition as seamless as possible.

Vision Statement

My vision is to create an affordable way of treating mental health that is all inclusive for my patients. The way I plan to do this is by allowing my patients to guide their care as much as possible, understanding I may be educated and want to provide informed care; while my patients bring their lived experience to the table.
